Confession time: I'm an eyeshadow palette fiend. I love pretty colors, and what is a good palette if not a curated collection of color?
I may spend a chunk of my disposable income on makeup, but of course not everyone can or wants to. With that in mind, I thought I'd do a feature - the title says it all. I'll break down the colors used in each look so you can create your own take.
For all these looks, I used Tatcha The Silk Canvas (it smells so good!) and Tarte Shape Tape around my eyes, because left unchecked my undereye area is yellow-brown and wrinkly and very unappealing.
LOOK ONE:. Work Neutral

I'm not much for neutrals (COLOR!!!) but everyone has to look professional once in a while. For this look, I used Trippin' for the base color all over the lid, up to the brow. I then covered the lid with Mind Slip. I wanted to add some shimmer with V.R. on the center of the lid, but it was pretty hard to see, so I used Cyberpunk instead, wrapping it around the crease. From the crease halfway to the brow I added in Dazed. I lined my eyes in Purple Dust. On top of that, I added Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Disco Daydream eyeliner. I pretty much always use Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions mascara - it does a great job and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. The lipstick is MAC's Touch.
LOOK TWO: ORCHID AND COPPER
I used Trippin' again for my base color, then did my lids in Optimized.
But then - oh, then - I tried to do a winged look with Warning and Digital. My friends, I am not to be trusted with a winged look. I lack the skill, which does not sound good coming from someone who talks about makeup, but there you have it. I possess neither steadiness of hand or even-ness of lid, and I cannot do it. It's just not meant to be. More power to you if you can wing it.
So I took that sad attempt off, my head bowed in shame, and redid the look for my round eyes without lengthening wings. I lined my eyes with Digital, and used that cute, shimmering V.R. above the crease. Blend blend blend. I used Nyx's Epic Wear gold eyeliner on the inside of my lower lid, to catch the purple and gold shimmer of the V.R., and of course Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions.
Side note: it's 97 degrees out today, feeling like 102. Under my eyes I am using Revolution's Translucent Setting Powder, so my eyeliner doesn't slide down my cheeks. Because you KNOW it wants to. I'm also spritzing on Urban Decay's All Nighter (an absolute must have, I use it every day!). In short, I'm trying to make it all stay put.
The lipstick is MAC's Hey Frenchie.

LOOK THREE: PURPLE PASTIME

Whew! Last one for the day and my eyes are relieved it's almost over. After once again adding the base layer of Trippin', I covered my lids in Lucid, a luscious pastel mint and my favorite shade in the palette. I used Euphoric from the crease to midway up to the brow, and Purple Dust on the outside edge of each eye, just a bit of the corner, to create the illusion of my eyes being wider. I chose Nyx Epic Wear eyeliner in Berry Goth and Emerald Cue, and just a bit of Maybelline Lasting Drama in Jet Black on the corners to make it all pop. Along my brow, I added some Hacked shadow, partly because it was the only color I hadn't touched in the whole palette. To finish off the look and bring some glam, I layered on Urban Decay's Heavy Metal in Stage Dive. Add some Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions and boom! Done.
The lip is Revolution Shimmer Bomb in Glimmer. I have to say, I love love love the Shimmer Bomb glosses. I hope Revolution makes more colors!
I hope you enjoyed this first in a series of 3 Looks, 1 Palette! I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions. Please consider subscribing, and thank you so much for playing with makeup with me!
