Getting Shifty

Hello, my lovelies! I hope you're bright-eyed today. I am - literally and figuratively!
I'm fascinated by colorshifting and duochrome makeup. How could I not be, when it falls so neatly into my goal of MORE COLOR!? Two or more colors in one? Yes, please! So I started hunting them down and snatching them up. I've tried quite a few brands (I'm planning a round-up in the near future), and I think my favorite so far is Larina Cosmetics loose powders. I used the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as my base and layered the color on. So. Happy! You get stunning color with real depth, and colorshift you can actually see.
Larina's Soft Duochrome Marvel pigment retails for $11.99/gram - pricey, but worth it! I also tried one of their liquid shadows; unfortunately, as with every liquid duochrome I've tried, I personally am allergic. Switching to loose pigment seems to have solved that problem. Hooray!

To get this look, I started with Revolution's Pore Blur and Tatcha The Silk Canvas. I'm still using Maybelline Age Rewind for my foundation, and Tarte ShapeTape as my go-to concealer.
Once my foundation was in place, I used Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. For my all-over base color, I went with #1 from the Revolution Mesmerized mini-palette. Because my eyes can look bruised if I only use purple, I went under my eyes with Thrive Causemetics Eye Brightener in Emma, a light coppery shade. My eyelid got Larina's Marvel, and I used ColourPop's Fine Feathered palette's Hen Party above the crease. I finally got some of those face stickers so I can manage a creditable wing, check it out! I created a gradient by adding #2 from the Mesmerized palette next, and finishing with Tweet Me from Fine Feathered. I blended up and out above the crease only; you don't want to blend or smear a duochrome shadow, it ruins the effect.
I lined my lower lid with Nyx EpicWear in Berry Goth and my upper lid with #3 from the Mesmerized palette, a nice, deep royal purple. I went over both upper and lower eyeliners with Urban Decay's Studio liquid glitter eyeliner for some sparkle.

Back to my face! Once again, I broke out the Sephora Luminizing Palette. I used the darkest color in the hollows of my cheeks, under the jaw, on my throat, and the sides of my forehead. I added the lighter of the pink shades to my cheekbones, the center of my forehead, and the tip of my nose. CoverGirl 590 is my favorite blush; I prefer a subtle blush, and it looks great with ever look I try. Blend blend blend, you know the score. For lips I went with MAC's Hey Frenchie, which has a nice purple undertone.
After spraying Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray, I used a makeup sponge to dab it into place. Last but never least, on with the mascara! Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions, of course. Such good stuff.
I hope you're enjoying the makeup breakdowns. I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a comment or a question.
