Hey, It's Kinda Hot In Here

I hit the brights with a passion! But before we get to those details, a word on the face.
Tatcha the Silk Canvas is my bae. I doubt I will ever not use it again. It smells like lemony vanilla heaven and makes all my makeup go on better. Yes, that sh*! is expensive. In all seriousness, if you do one beauty splurge, treat yourself to this product. A tiny bit goes a long way, and it's been really good for my skin. I looked it up, and they make this with actual silk and pearls in it. Silk and pearls! How lux is that? I came across it as a sample, and that tiny blister full lasted me nearly a month. Worth the investment.
Anyway, Tatcha the Silk Canvas, then Maybelline Age Rewind base everywhere. I always get under my chin and down my throat a little, because I hate seeing The Line along the jaw. Bleh. Tarte ShapeTape concealer I use under the sides of the eye, dot on the forehead between the brows, thin line along the bridge of my nose, dot on the center of the chin. I blend it in with a flat, round brush. I used Revolution Translucent Setting Powder under my eyes and blend that in. For all-over powder, I like Revlon Blurring Powder. Gotta hide those lines!
I am still exploring the world of contour. I can admit it: contour looked downright intimidating. I did not learn this stuff during my middle school forays into teen magazines and Cosmo! Where did it come from? Am I going to look like I have stripes on my face?
I have dipped a toe into the waters of contouring, and just ordered an actual cream contouring palette. At the moment all I'm using is the Sephora Luminizing Palette. I think I'm getting the hang of it.
For my plus-size people, getting the hang of contouring is probably a little trickier. We have double chins we'd like to minimize, and the most common contouring tutorials and guides don't address that. I'm going to recommend Brianna Fox's YouTube video "How to Contour a Round Face". ://youtu.be/bwuVuDzH3hY
It's super helpful, though she gets way more detailed than I do (yet).
Getting back to the point, I use the darkest shade of the Sephora Luminizing Palette under my chin and down my neck, on both sides of my too-square chin, both sides of my nose, and in the area that goes in when I suck in my cheeks. That's below where my blush will go. Instead of blending it up on my cheeks, I blend downwards and make sort of a trapezoid on each cheek. Don't go all the way to the jaw, but get close.
Today I used the brightest color in the palette for highlights. Top of the cheekbones, middle of the forehead and chin, and the tip of the nose. I don't know why, but that little bit of glow on the tip of my nose makes me smile.

CoverGirl 590 is my go-to blush. This I use on the middle of the cheekbone, up to the corner of my eye. I don't do heavy blush. What I want is enough to support the strength of the colors of eyeshadow, so I don't look super pale and washed out. Of course, blend it all.
For my eyes, I covered the entire lid, to the brow, with Revolution Duo in Adored By You, the white pearl shade, so I had a background color to help my brights pop. From the Revolution Birds of Paradise palette, I did my lower lid in Toucan Play. I used Tangerine Dreams from the ColourPop Orange You Glad palette on the middle of the eyelid for some shimmer, then went back to Birds of Paradise for my outer corner color, Cardinal. Love it! Then came a dusting of Vacay from the same palette, crease to halfway up to the brow. Of course, I used Precious Cargo from ColourPop's The Mandalorian palette on the inner corner of my eye, which I consider to be my signature. To line my eyes, I first used ColourPop's ColourStix in Free Time on my bottom lid only. I went with Revolution's Midnight Rose palette, in Midnight for around the eye. Using a round brush, I did a light blending here, but not enough to lose the individual colors. Add Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions mascara, and done!

Don't be afraid, it's just my wrinkles.
If you're still reading, thanks! This turned into a really long post. Let me know what you think or show me your version of this hot summer look!
