Pop that Neon!

A neutral palette with a pop of neon is a trend I kinda yawned at. I mean, one color? Just one? I am a many colors kind of gal! But the explorer in me whispered, "Try it!"
Of course I love it.

For this trendy eye look, I started with ColourPop's Wild Nothing palette and used Coastline for my all-over base color. It's got a nice, warm shimmer I like. I popped (ha ha) over to the Mellow Cosmetics Athena palette, and went with Gemma, a rose gold metallic, on my lid, and Alpha, a dark bronze metallic, in the crease. Great shadows all, but of course way more subdued than I usually go. After some debate between neon pink, green, or purple, I went with green, largely because I had the eyeliners to back it up.
I loaded up my brush with Budgie from the Revolution Birds of Paradise palette, and that's when things got interesting. Suddenly the trend made sense! Hello, eyes! I used ColourPop's ColourStix in Isla Vista to line my eyes first, letting the color radiate out from my lower lid further than I usually do. I was struck with the idea that I wanted my undereye to look a bit like the kind of car that has neon glowing from below. I wasn't getting quite as much pigment from the ColotStix as I wanted, so I added Nyx's EpicWear eyeliner in Emerald Cut, and that solved the problem right quick. I lined my eyes inside the green lines with Midnight, a matte black from Revolution's Midnight Rose palette. In keeping with the neutral look, I did my lips with MAC's Touch lipstick, my very favorite lipstick of all time.

For my blush color, I went with Mellow Cosmetics Bronze, to keep that neutrality everywhere that wasn't green. (How many times can I say neutral in one post?) Sephora's Luminizing Palette is a great choice for that job as well; the six shades all offer a natural, neutral glow-up.
So what do you think, friends? Do you love it as much as I do? What shade of neon would you try this look with?
